OLD ORCHARD BEACH — A well-established downtown pizza stand has changed hands, but the new owners say fans won’t see any changes to the popular take-out restaurant.

For more than 70 years Bill’s Pizza, at 12 Old Orchard Beach Ave., has served countless pizza slices and jumbo-sized pies in the summer. On any given summer day, there is a line of hungry customers on the sidewalk waiting for their turn at the take-out window. There are multiple popular seasonal pizza joints downtown, but Bill’s has a loyal fan base – from both local and away – who feel their summer isn’t complete without a slice or two of Bill’s Pizza.

Tiffany Boutte said that she and her husband, Alan, purchased Bill’s Pizza in December. The couple owns Pier Fries, a revered French Fry stand located in the same building as Bill’s Pizza.

Both Bill’s Pizza and Pier Fries aficionados can breathe easy. Both seasonal food stands will remain the same, serving tried and true menu items.

“Bills has a great following now, so there isn’t any reason for us to change anything,” said Boutte. “We still plan on keeping both Pier Fries and Bills as separate businesses.”

The former owner of Bill’s Pizza also operated a pizza restaurant in downtown Portland, which closed last year.
