Biddeford City Council confirms nomination for new city clerk
BIDDEFORD —The Biddeford City Council has confirmed the nomination of Robin Patterson as the City of Biddeford’s next City Clerk.
Patterson most recently served as the town clerk and registrar of voters for the town of Benton for two years and previously served as deputy clerk for one year. Patterson managed all aspects of elections in Benton, including preparing the ballot, processing absentee ballots, training deputy clerks and poll workers, and overseeing Election Day voting and post-election certification. She also has experience managing the vital records process, town oaths, taking meeting minutes, and preparing agenda materials.
“We are very fortunate in being able to hire a city clerk with the talents, organizational skills, and experience that Robin possesses. She loves the Biddeford community and its renaissance, and her personality will resonate within City Hall and the Council Chambers,” Mayor Alan Casavant said. “She knows the city very well, and she brings not only her enthusiasm for being part of the Biddeford experience, but also a curiosity to learn even more about our history and our residents. I am very pleased that she has agreed to be our new city clerk.”
The city clerk has many duties, including overseeing elections and voter registration, managing Committee, Board and Commission appointments, and serving as the clerk of the City Council. In addition, the city clerk oversees vehicle registration, tax collection, and the processing of permits and licenses such as beach permits, business licenses and dog licenses.
"I am excited to return to a place that I love and am looking forward to serving the citizens of Biddeford as city clerk,” Patterson said. “I enjoy all aspects of the City Clerk role, and especially enjoy the dynamic energy of working on local and state elections."
Patterson will begin the position on May 16.
