Here in Maine, the fourth Sunday of March means Maine Maple Sunday.

Maine Maple Sunday is a tradition that began more than four decades ago, and has become so popular that many sugar shacks celebrate Maine Maple Weekend, with sugar shack demonstrations, pancake breakfasts, farm tours, activities, and maple products galore on both Saturday and Sunday. You can find out how maple syrup is made, meet local producers, and enjoy some local syrup.

To find out what sugar shacks and farms are celebrating Maine Maple Sunday this weekend, go to the Maine Maple Producers website or the Southern Maine Maple Sugarmaker’s website.

Community Dinner

Local community group OOB365 is hosting a free community dinner on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 57, 14 Imperial St., Old Orchard Beach. The theme of the dinner is “Italian Delights,” and the menu will include lasagna and other Italian dishes.  There will also be a dessert table with a large selection of sweet treats. All are welcome.
