SACO —A Ziggi’s Coffee shop is slated to come to Saco.

Ziggi’s Coffee is a coffee chain that originated in Colorado in 2004 and now has about 70 locations across the country.

Last month, the planning board approved a site plan review application for a Ziggi’s Coffee at 991 Portland Road (Route One), near Waterfall Drive.

According to the application from developer RHPEC 2 LLC, the proposed drive-through coffee shop would be 864 square feet. The proposed coffee shop would have no indoor seating, but would have a pedestrian service window, an outdoor seating area, and 16 parking spaces.

A representative from Ziggi’s did not reply by press time, but a store locator on the Ziggi’s Coffee website shows that the Saco coffee shop would be the first Ziggi’s in Maine. Elsewhere in New England, a Ziggi’s Coffee is planned for Meredith, New Hampshire.

“We are very excited to welcome Ziggi’s Coffee to Saco, Maine. With the drive-thru and walk-up window option, and variety of options for all ages, will be a great addition to the Portland Road corridor,” said Saco Economic Development Director Tracey Desjardins.

Ziggi’s Coffee online menu shows a large selection of beverages including classic hot and cold coffee and tea drinks, signature espresso drinks and Blenders – frozen sweet drinks with espresso and milk in a variety of flavors. The coffee shop also offers a children’s menu as well as energy drinks, Italian sodas, fruit smoothies and cold fruit drinks called Fresherz.
