A Saco woman was transported to the hospital after a gunshot wound on Tuesday.

Saco police responded to gunshots fired at a residence at 103 Temple St. around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, according to a press release from Shannon Moss, public safety officer for the  Maine Department of Public Safety.

Upon arrival officers discovered a woman who was suffering from a gunshot wound, said Moss. The woman was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition. Moss did not release the woman’s name.

A portion of Temple Street was shut down Tuesday while Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Detectives conducted an investigation and Evidence Response Technicians processed the scene, said Moss.

“There is no danger to the public and the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

Police were at 103 Temple St. residence the day before to arrest Lorenze Labonte, 25, who is charged with the murder of Ahmed Sharif, 27, of Lewiston. Sharif died after he was shot at a State Street, Biddeford apartment Friday afternoon. Labonte was taken to York County Jail and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
