Saco man charged with murder in Biddeford shooting
A Saco man has been arrested in connection with Friday’s fatal shooting in Biddeford.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at a State Street apartment in Biddeford at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. Biddeford police entered the apartment to find Ahmed Sharif, 27, of Lewiston, dead. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South was called to the scene, and Sharif’s body was transported the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, and an autopsy later ruled his death a homicide, said Shannon Moss, public safety officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety in a press release.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, the Maine State Police Tactical Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team arrested Lorenze Labonte, 25, at his home at 103 Temple St., Saco, and charged him with the murder of Sharif, said Moss in a newly issued press release.
Investigators were expected to be at the Temple Street, Saco home throughout the evening on Monday executing a search warrant, said Moss.
Labonte is scheduled to make his initial appearance in York County Superior Court at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford on Tuesday, Nov. 28, said Moss.
