Three teens in police custody after car chase from Saco to Scarborough

Three juveniles in a stolen car fled police in Saco on Saturday morning.

Around 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, Saco police officers attempted a traffic stop for a speeding silver Toyota Prius on Portland Road (Route One), according to a press release from the Saco Police Department.

When police turned on the cruiser’s blue lights and siren, the Prius drove away and went to the town of Scarborough.

Saco police notified the Scarborough Police Department and the silver Prius was located a short while later, where it had been abandoned on Stewart Drive in Scarborough, according to the press release. The car was reported stolen from the town of Pownal.

Saco’s K-9 unit and Scarborough police officers searched for and found the three juveniles who had left the car, according to the press release. The three juveniles were taken into police custody. As they are minors, their names are not being released.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the stolen car was returned to the owner, according to the press release.
