Parking meter season has begun in Old Orchard Beach, but there is also more free short-term parking in the downtown.

Parking in downtown Old Orchard Beach

While parking in downtown Old Orchard Beach is free in the winter, it has traditionally been metered during the busy summer months. The parking meter season has been tweaked over the years, and currently runs from May 1 to Labor Day. During this time, parking in downtown municipal lots and along the street on First Street and other side streets in the downtown is $3 an hour, and can be paid through on-site parking kiosks or a phone app.

Free short-term parking

For those headed to downtown for a quick trip or to pick up takeout, the town has now designated all on-street parking on Old Orchard Street, except for nine one-hour handicap spaces, as free 30-minute parking.

Parking permits

Residents and non-residents who visit downtown Old Orchard Beach in the summer often can choose from a selection of town parking permits. Information on the types of parking passes and prices can be found on the Town Clerk’s website or by visiting Town Hall.
