No one injured after Biddeford porch fire

All residents of a Biddeford multi-unit building were able to return to their apartments after a fire on Wednesday evening.
Biddeford firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 25 Clifford Street around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Biddeford Fire Department.
Upon arriving on the scene, firefighters found smoke coming from the porches of a 3-story wood frame apartment building. The fire was primarily located in the porches but had extended into the wall of the apartment building on the first floor, according to the press release. There was smoke damage in all apartments.
All the occupants from had evacuated just prior to the arrival of firefighters, according to the press release.
The apartment building was evaluated for safety by the city’s Code Enforcement Department and Fire Department, and it was determined the residents could return to their apartments, according to the press release.
No one was injured. The fire remains under investigation, according to the Biddeford Fire Department.
The Biddeford Fire Department received mutual aid on the scene from Goodwins Mills, Arundel, Saco and Old Orchard Beach. A fire engine from Sanford and an ambulance from Scarborough covered the Biddeford Central Fire Station.
Firefighters say this was the second porch fire this week. The fire department reminds community members to properly dispose of smoking materials and make sure smoke detectors are in place and working.
