Local Flavor: Saco Main Street food news

There’s a new place for dinner Friday night, a new sundae option, and a grant winner – all on Saco’s Main Street.

The Golden Rooster, 236 Main St., Saco is now open two nights a week for dinner. Primarily a breakfast and lunch spot, the restaurant announced that in addition to Thursday evenings, it is now open on Friday evenings.

If you want a sundae but want something more whimsical (and prettier) than the standard hot fudge, the Saco Scoop, 209 Main St., Saco now has cotton candy sauce. The downtown ice cream shop also carries brownie topping from local bakery Wheatless Wisk that is both gluten-free and vegan.

Sea Spray confections, 209 Main St., Suite 103, Saco, was recently awarded a $30,000 Enhancement Grant from the Backing Small Businesses program supported by American Express and Main Street America. The Backing Small Business grant program supports
“projects that promote sustainable growth, enhance long-term resilience, and increase local impact,” according to the Maine Street America website.
