Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco is serving up fish dinners once again this Lenten season.
Haddock dinners will be served on Fridays from March 7 through April 11 from 4- 6 p.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church Hall, located at 271 Main St. in Saco. There will be sit-down service as well as take-out.
The meals are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger. The proceeds from the dinners will benefit St. James School in Biddeford.
Many Maine Catholic parishes offer haddock dinners, fish chowder, or simple soup and bread meals on Fridays during Lent as Catholics, ages 14 and up, observe the law of abstinence which means refraining from the consumption of meat (land animals) on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent to honor Jesus’s sacrifice, made on Good Friday.
Information on other Lenten Dinners in Southern Maine and other areas of the state can be found at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland website.
