Local Flavor: Food drives and seasonal opening calendar

Better Biddeford and Nibblesford Cheese Shop are teaming up for a community food and supplies drive.

Stop by the shop at 5 Washington St., Suite 1 in Biddeford from 2-4 p.m. tomorrow, April 12, for a free cheese and wine tasting. Better Biddeford is asking folks to drop off the following items to support a community outreach program: new socks, small sunscreens, lunch/snack to-go kits, non-perishable food items, and bottled water.

Saco Scoop at 209 Main Street, Suite #1, Saco, continues its food drive for YouthFull Maine through the end of April. YouthFull Maine is a non-profit organization that serves youth and families in York County. Drop off a non-perishable item at Saco Scoop this month and get 20 percent off an ice cream or beverage.

The Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce is posting opening dates of member seasonal businesses on its event page. Check the calendar for updates to see when local restaurants, hotels and other businesses are opening for the season.
