L.L. Bean plans to open Biddeford store in 2025
L.L. Bean has announced plans to open a retail store next year in Biddeford.
L.L. Bean was founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, and is a privately held, family-owned company headquartered in Freeport. The company has long been known for outdoor gear and clothes, including its classic duck boots and canvas tote bags.
Jason Sulham, manager of public affairs at L.L. Bean stated in an email that the company plans to open a 14,500 square foot store in late April at the Biddeford Crossing shopping area “right next to Market Basket.”
The Massachusetts-based Demoulas Supermarkets owns Market Basket and the Marinar Way property where the Biddeford store is located. The Demoulas corporate office did not respond to a media request by deadline.
“We could not be more thrilled to learn that one of our most iconic Maine brands will be coming to and investing in our community. It's further reinforcement that the Biddeford/Saco area has become the commercial hub and a top destination in all of Southern Maine,” said Biddeford + Saco Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jim LaBelle.
According to a fact sheet from L.L. Bean, every item it produces is designed in Maine.
