SACO — There will be another sandwich shop in the city this summer. Jersey Mike’s Subs is expected to open in Saco in July.

Jersey Mike’s Subs is a fast-casual restaurant franchise serving made-to-order sandwiches at nearly 2,500 locations nationwide, according to the company’s website. There are currently eight Jersey Mike’s restaurants in Maine, located in Portland, Scarborough, Westbrook, Bangor, Auburn, Topsham, Brunswick and Windham.

An estimated target date for the Saco restaurant to open is July 12, said Jersey Mike’s Spokesman Kyle Potvin.

The Saco sandwich shop will be located at 507 Main St. (Route One) and will fill one of three units in a new building at the site of a former Pizza Hut.

The Jersey Mike’s restaurant will be 1,200 square feet, with a 12-seat dining area and additional outdoor seating, said Potvin.

Chipotle Mexican Grill opened in one of the other units at 507 Main St. earlier this year, and the third space is currently vacant.

Jersey Mike’s Subs serves both hot and cold sub sandwiches on fresh-made bread in three sizes. The restaurant also offers wraps and bowls as well as a children’s menu and a gluten-free menu.
