HomeGoods eyes Biddeford
BIDDEFORD — A HomeGoods store is expected to be added to the mix of big-box stores at The Shops at Biddeford Crossing in the fall.
HomeGoods is a discount home décor chain with more than 820 stores across the country. It is a division of TJX Companies which also includes Marshalls, T.J. Max, Sierra, and Homesense.
The company anticipates opening a store in Biddeford in the fall, said HomeGoods Marketing Supervisor Samantha Abbatessa in an email on Tuesday. Abbatessa did not provide further information, but an online job posting for an assistant manager at the proposed HomeGoods store lists the location as 401 Mariner Way Unit 406, in the same building as Target, Famous Footwear and T.J. Max.
HomeGoods sells items at prices generally 20 to 60 percent below full-price retailers, according to the HomeGoods website. Its inventory includes kitchen and gourmet cookware, accent furniture, lighting, rugs, wall art and decorative accessories, bedding and seasonal décor.
“We buy from all kinds of vendors, including top brands and designers, as well as artisans from around the world. We also have some merchandise manufactured for us to bring you exceptional fashion and quality at an amazing price,” states the website.
In Maine, there are currently HomeGoods stores located in Scarborough, Rockland and Bangor.
