Friends of Rachel Carson photo contest accepting submissions

Kennebunk – Friends of Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge are receiving photo submissions until July 31 from beginners, experienced photographers, and everyone in between for the 6th annual Sense of Wonder photo contest. 

Photographers are welcome to submit up to three images in horizontal or landscape format in the highest resolution that can be sent to the submission page on the Friends website. All photos must be taken at Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

A jury of experienced photographers will select twelve photos for the Friends 2027 Rachel Carson Refuge calendar. A “Best in Show” photo will be selected by the jury for the calendar cover, and a “Rising Star” award will be given to a photographer age 17 and under.

All participants agree to the terms and conditions as specified on the Friends submission website, including permission to use your submitted images for Friends marketing, fundraising, and community activities (with credit to the photographer).

Photos are welcome from every season, older and more recent snaps, color or black and white formats, abstract camera modes, and edited photos.

This year the Refuge’s spectacular new location along the Mousam River at the new visitor center at 188 Brown Street in Kennebunk could be a great place for a winning photo adventure!
