KENNEBUNKPORT — Seashore Trolley Museum, the world’s first and largest electric railway museum, will host an event exclusively for Maine residents on June 13-14.

The two-day event – “I’ve Driven by Several Times but I’ve Never Been Down the Driveway” – was inspired by conversations between museum staff and Mainers who know about the museum but have never visited. Maine residents can enjoy all museum attractions for free on Saturday and Sunday, including 3.5-mile trolley rides on a portion of the historic Atlantic Shore Line Railway; exhibits featuring antique railway cars and related artifacts; and its new Maine Central Model Railroad Building, which houses the state’s largest HO-scale model railroad.

“If you’ve never taken a ride on one of our historic trolleys, viewed our massive collection, or experienced the many other attractions that our museum has to offer, it’s time to cross us off your bucket list and take a trip to one of the most fun spots in southern Maine,” said Executive Director Katie Orlando.

Other special events at the trolley museum this season include Dino Trolley (June 27-28, Aug. 8-9 and Sept. 5-6), Moxie Day (July 12), Pumpkin Patch Trolley (13 dates in September and October), Trolleyween (Oct. 23-25) and Christmas Prelude Trolley Rides (Dec. 4-6 and 11-13). Daniel Tiger from the PBS KIDS series “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” will visit the museum July 18-19.

The trolley museum at 95 Log Cabin Road, Kennebunkport, is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, with the last trolley departing at 3:45 p.m. Both the campus and trolley rides are dog friendly. Additional information can be found at www.trolleymuseum.org.
