OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Chrys’s Restaurant has announced that it is closing after 35 years in business.

Chrys’s, located at 6 East Grand Ave., was a seasonal family restaurant offering Greek, Italian and American food. It was known for Greek specialties such as pastitsio, moussaka and spanakopita as well as some creative takes on classic Greek desserts including baklava ice cream and baklava cheesecake.

Owners Demetrios and Chrysanthe Dikos announced the closure on social media recently and thanked their loyal customers who had returned to the restaurant year after year.

“After 35 years in business and a lot of good times, difficult times, a lot of laughs and lifetime friendships, we made the decision to retire. It has been a pleasure serving you and we thank you for your support and patronage through the years,” stated the couple in the Facebook post.

Many fans of the restaurant responded to the post, saying that they will miss the restaurant but wishing the Dikos a happy retirement.

“This selfishly makes me so sad, because I love seeing you each summer and stuffing myself full of delicious Greek food. But I can't think of any family more deserving of retirement and relaxation! So much love to you all,” said one commenter.
