Biddeford + Saco Chamber of Commerce names new executive director

The Biddeford + Saco Chamber of Commerce + Industry has hired Alex MacPhail of Saco as the new executive director.

MacPhail will start as executive director on Monday, Nov. 17, according to a press release from the chamber’s board of directors.

“I can't tell you how excited I am to help grow and foster a healthy business community, where we can provide education, leadership, representation and substance to our thriving region,” said MacPhail.

MacPhail can often be seen at community events with his wife, Jodi, who is the Mayor of Saco. He volunteers his time as the emcee to the summer concert series at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach and other local functions. A long-time musician, MacPhail currently plays guitar in the band Muel Fuel.

“Alex is well known in the Biddeford and Saco region and has been active in the local business community for years. He brings strong communication skills, and deep local connections across the business community. His ongoing involvement with a wide range of businesses and organizations positions him well to lead the Chamber’s work moving forward,” said the chamber board in the press release.

In the role as director, MacPhail will be responsible for member engagement, community partnerships, events, marketing, administrative coordination, and the day-to-day operations of the organization.

“The Chamber looks forward to the direction and energy Alex will bring to the organization in this role,” said the board in the press release.
