Biddeford police arrest man with $30,000 worth of cocaine

A Biddeford man was arrested last week and had about $30,000 worth of cocaine, according to police.

Biddeford police responded to a report of a disturbance in the Emery Street area on Sept. 12, according to a press release from the Biddeford Police Department.

After arriving on the scene, police arrested Gage Barton, 26, of Biddeford, and charged him with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (class A – felony) and violating condition of release (class E – misdemeanor).

According to police, Barton had small plastic bags of cocaine in his possession. The bags in total weighed 316.5 grams, and had a street value of about $30,000, according to police.

Barton is currently on probation for unlawful possession of cocaine (class C – felony), criminal threatening (class D – misdemeanor), and domestic violence assault (class D – misdemeanor), according to the press release, and Barton’s probation officer placed a probation hold on him. Barton is also on bail conditions which prohibit him from committing any new crimes or possessing illegal drugs, according to the press release.

Barton was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred where he is being held without bail, according to the press release.
