SACO — Good news for those who have missed going to the movie theater. Apple Cinemas will be taking over the former Cinemagic theater.

In February, Zyacorp announced it was closing its Cinemagic theaters, which included movie theaters in Saco and Westbrook.

Commercial real estate firm Key Point Partners announced in a press release on Tuesday that it had negotiated a lease for four theaters for Apple Cinemas. Apple Cinemas will be taking over Cinemagic’s former Maine locations in Saco and Westbrook and its former New Hampshire locations in Hookset and Merrimack.

“Apple Cinemas values its growing relationships with major institutional ownership groups, and is pleased to have completed this master lease with the dominant entertainment landlord operating in the U.S. Apple Cinemas is sensitive to the good will established by the prior operator, and will continue to offer high quality family entertainment at each of these locations,” said Vice President of Leasing/Tenant Rep Don Mace in a written statement.

Mace said in the statement that while Apple Cinemas considers all appropriate sites, its focus is on converting existing cinema space.

An opening date has not been announced. A representative from Apple Cinemas was not available by press time.

Apple Cinemas currently has theaters in Connecticut and Massachusetts, according to its website. The website lists six theaters but the chain will soon grow to 12, according to the press release from Key Point Partners. The theater chain shows a variety of movies, including popular blockbusters, art films, and foreign films, according to the press release.
