What's cooking? Community meals this month

BIDDEFORD — A free community meal will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 19 Crescent St., Biddeford.

The City of Biddeford partners with local organizations and businesses to serve a free meal the third Thursday of the month. This month the city is partnering with Bon Appetit Community Meal Program, which serves a free meal every weeknight to anyone in the community.

All are welcome to come enjoy Mexican cuisine, and there will be vegan and gluten-free options available.

YouthFull Maine and Hannaford Supermarkets are sponsoring the event, and Coco Bar and Grill has donated chips and salsa.

While this week the meal is being served at 19 Crescent St., it is typically served at the J. Richard Martin Community Center, 189 Alfred St.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH

Local community group OOB365 is hosting a free “Italian Feast” from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29 at the American Legion Hall, 14 Imperial St., Old Orchard Beach. The menu includes lasagna, tortellini, stuffed bread and a dessert bar.

The Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army serves a free lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday at 2 Sixth St., Old Orchard Beach.

SACO

The Saco Meals program serves a free community meal on Monday and Thursday evenings at Most Holy Trinity Church Hall, 271 Main St., Saco. Doors open at 4:15 p.m. for drinks and socialization and meals are served at 4:45 p.m.

The program is run entirely by volunteers. Meals are made with items from Good Shepherd Food Bank and with the help of donations from community sponsors. Monthly menus are posted online at www.sacomeals.org .
