Two arrested for murder in relation to Biddeford shooting

Two Biddeford residents were arrested for murder in relation to a September shooting at Foss Street.

The Maine State Police Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South and the Biddeford Police Department arrested Garret Labonte, 45, and Linda Lambert, 57, both of Biddeford, around 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28. on charges stemming from the murder of Gene Dares, 46,  according to a press release from Shannon Moss, public safety officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Labonte and Lambert were arrested at 65 South St., Biddeford without incident, according to Moss.

 

The alleged homicide occurred in the area of 135-137 Foss St., Biddeford, on Friday, Sept. 27, when police received multiple reports of gun shots at 10:53 p.m. Dares died at the scene, said Moss. An autopsy of Dares was performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, and the cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.

Labonte was charged with Murder, Felony murder, and Robbery and Lambert was charged with Felony murder and Robbery, said Moss. Labonte and Lambert are at York County Jail in Alfred, said Moss. They are expected to make their first court appearance Wednesday morning.
