Traffic on Flag Pond Road in Saco will be restricted for two weeks starting Wednesday
SACO — Traffic on Flag Pond Road will once again be restricted while the city continues work to improve infrastructure and pedestrian safety.
The Saco Police Department on Friday issued a traffic advisory for Flag Pond Road.
For two weeks beginning Wednesday, Aug. 2, traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel exiting Flag Pond Road to Route One, according to the advisory. During this time, traffic in this area of Route 1 will be unable to enter Flag Pond Road both during the day and night.
Construction includes road infrastructure work completion and repaving, according to city officials. Police advise motorists to plan for delays and seek alternate routes during the Aug. 2 to Aug. 16 time period.
Police say that after this project, planned work on Flag Pond Road will be complete for the season. Infrastructure work on Flag Pond Road was scheduled this year to extend city sewer and water lines and upgrade storm drains and sidewalks, according to city officials.
“We understand this is an inconvenience and we thank you for your patience as we take necessary steps to improve infrastructure and pedestrian safety in Saco,” said police in the advisory.
