Thornton swim team wins Southwestern Championships
SACO — The Thornton Academy girl’s swim team won the Southwestern Championship on Saturday at Cape Elizabeth High School.
This marked the first time in program history that the Golden Trojans won the conference crown. The Goldon Trojan’s previous best finish was second place in 2004 and 2010.
Every swimmer contributed to this win, it was truly a team effort, said school officials.
There were two record breaking swims on Saturday: First place 50 freestyle by Thornton Senior Kenzie Lowry (the previous Thornton record was from 2010), and first place 200 Freestyle Relay swam by Thornton Senior Isabelle Rocheleau, Junior Allie Lefebvre, Junior Nora Freeman and Senior Kenzie Lowry (the previous Thornton Academy record was from 2022 set by the same girls).
