Three people were hospitalized after a one-car crash in Saco on Thursday evening.

The Saco Emergency Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a single-car crash in the 500 block area of Ferry Road around 6:44 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, according to a press release from Saco Police Chief Jack Clements.

Upon arrival to the scene of the accident, first responders provided medical care to the three occupants of the vehicle, said Clements in the press release. All three individuals were transported by ambulance to the Maine Medical Center Trauma Unit in Portland, he said.

“Preliminary investigations, based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, suggest that a white Mercedes Benz sedan was traveling westbound on Ferry Road when it failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a wooded area, colliding with several large trees,” said Clements in the press release.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, he said.

The Saco Police Department Crash Investigation Unit is reconstructing the incident to determine the exact sequence of events, said Clements.

Police will provide updates as more information becomes available, he said.
