OLD ORCHARD BEACH – A recent visitor to Landry’s Shop and Save was very lucky.

The second prize ticket for the April 20 drawing of the Lucky for Life lottery was recently sold at the local grocery store. The Landry’s shopper was only one winner of the second prize, which is $25,000 a year for life, according to Lucky for Life records

No one on April 20 won the top prize, which is $1,000 a day for life, according to Lucky for Life records.

Lucky for Life is played by choosing five lucky numbers and one lucky ball number. The second prize winner must match the five lucky numbers.

The recent second prize winner, whose name has not been released, has opted to get a one-time payout of $390,000 instead of the weekly payment, said Maine Lottery spokesman Kyle Hadyniak. After federal and state taxes are withheld, the winner will receive a check for $276,900, said Hadyniak. The store receives a selling bonus of $250, he said.

Twenty-six lotteries across the country sell Lucky for Life tickets.

Drawings for the game are every Monday and Thursday and can be seen online on YouTube.

The odds of winning the $25,000 a year for life prize are 1 in 1,813,028, according to the Lucky for Life website.

There are several other lower prizes in the Lucky for Life lottery ranging from a one-time payment of $5,000 to a one-time payment of $4.
