Saco school board candidates announced for November election

SACO — Candidates in three wards are running for school board seats in the Nov. 3 election.

Anna McCard, Joshua Parks and Jennifer Preble are vying or the Ward 2 seat. Current Ward 2 school board member Lynn Leary is not seeking reelection.

Current Ward 4 school board member Stephen Shiman is running against former School Board Chairman Kevin Lafortune and Michael Vitiello.

In Ward 6, Sarah Truman is running unopposed. Current Ward 6 school board member Stanley Mozden is not seeking reelection.

School board terms are for three years.

Saco has a seven-member school board, with each of the city’s seven wards represented. The city’s mayor presides over the school board but does not vote except in the case of a tie.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the community center at 75 Franklin St. on Nov. 3. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on Oct. 29.
