Saco School Board approves new principal for C.K. Burns
SACO — April Noble has been named the new principal of C.K. Burns School.
Noble will replace Timothy Kane, who has resigned effective June 30.
Noble will begin the position July 1. She is currently the principal of Wells Elementary School, with a student population of about 550 students in grades Kindergarten through four. Noble has been a principal for seven years, and prior to that was a literacy coach for six years and a classroom teacher for seven years.
C.K. Burns serves about 565 students in grades three through five.
Noble was one of 19 potential candidates for the position, and was the unanimous choice of a 21-member selection committee. She also received unanimous approval at Wednesday night’s school board meeting.
“We are very lucky to have someone like April coming to our district,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Jeremy Ray. He said he was impressed with her preparedness at her interview and her desire to work with the staff at Burns School as a team.
Noble thanked the School Board for hiring her.
“I just want everyone in the public to know I’m eager to jump in, get to know the community, get to know all of the students, and the staff, and I look forward to partnering with everyone,” she said.
School Board member Christina Shea said she appreciated the great energy Noble was bringing to Burns.
School Board member Beth Johnston said she was impressed with what she had heard about Noble and mentioned that she had a grandchild attending C.K. Burns in September.
