Saco Police have identified the name of the Biddeford man who died in a fatal car accident last week.

Emergency dispatchers received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a crash involving a tractor-trailer truck and a car at the 500 Block of Route 112, around 9 a.m. on May 3, according to a press release from Saco Police Chief Jack Clements issued the day of the accident.

Police believe, based on witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene that a black Nissan Versa sedan was traveling west on Route 112 when it crossed the center line into the path of an eastbound Western Express semi-truck, leading to a head-on collision.

The driver of the Nissan Versa Douglas Emmons, 64, of Biddeford, was pronounced dead on the scene, said Clements in a May 7 press release. At the time of the accident, his driver’s license was suspended for an adverse medical condition, said Clements.

The driver of the tractor trailer was Christopher Thomas, 33, of Connecticut.

The crash remains under investigation, said Clements.

As the accident involves a tractor trailer truck, the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit is helping in the investigation. Buxton Police and Fire departments assisted in traffic control immediately following the accident.
