Saco pedestrian dies after struck by vehicle
SACO — Police are investigating a car accident that occurred last week on Bradley Street and resulted in the death of a local woman.
Saco police and fire departments responded to a report of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian on Bradley Street at the Spring Street intersection at 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 1, according to a press release from Deputy Police Chief Corey Huntress.
Police discovered upon arrival to the scene that the pedestrian, Li Z Wu, 73, of Saco, had been struck by a car while walking across the road, said Huntress in the press release. Wu was transported by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she died due to injuries received in the crash, said Huntress.
The initial investigation showed that Wu was crossing Bradley Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by a Jeep making a left turn from Spring Street onto Bradley Street, said Huntress. The driver of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was Michael Provencher, 44, of Waterboro, said Huntress.
This crash is being investigated by members of the Saco Police Department crash reconstruction team, and the accident remains under investigation, said Huntress.
