SACO — It appears that the Krispy Kreme in Saco has closed.

On Tuesday morning, moving trucks were at the 520 Main St. doughnut shop. Signs had been removed from the building and from the property.

The doughnut shop’s website states that it is “closed until further notice.”  Krispy Kreme headquarters media relations department had not responded to email inquiries by press time.

The doughnut and coffee shop opened in October 2017 to much fanfare. Enthusiastic fans of the national restaurant chain’s doughnuts camped out to be among the first in line for the opening of the first Krispy Kreme in Maine.

Krispy Kreme is headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was founded in 1937. Its signature product is the Original Glazed doughnut.
