Ribbon cutting ceremony held for Old Orchard Beach motel

The Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its new member, On the Beach Motel, on Tuesday, June 18.

On the Beach Motel is located at 61 West Grand Avenue in Old Orchard Beach, just footsteps away from miles of sandy beach. Nearly all rooms at the hotel have an ocean view.

JJ Mokarzel purchased the West Grand Avenue motel in 2021 and continued operating it under its former name, the Old Colonial Motel.

Mokarzel made many renovations to the hotel, including redecorating the rooms with a coastal beach theme. In 2024, he underwent a branding effort for the newly renovated hotel and renamed it the On the Beach Motel.

The recent ribbon cutting was held at the motel, with representatives of the Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce, community members and friends in attendance.
