Pride Month events in Biddeford and Saco
June is LGBTQ Pride month, honoring the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan and promote the self-affirmation, equality and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals.
Several events are being held in Biddeford and Saco to celebrate Pride month, beginning Thursday, June 1 with a light up Pride bicycle ride, hosted by Bike BS, a bicycle advocacy group for Biddeford and Saco. The “slow roll” ride will start at 8 p.m. at Shevenell Park, 149 Main St., Biddeford. Participants should decorate and light up their bikes.
City Theater, 205 Main St., Biddeford, is presenting two events for Pride month. A Pride Concert will take place Friday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. featuring pop and theater music. Drag Show Extravaganza, featuring Curb Side Queens will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.
A flag raising and Pride picnic will be held on Saturday, June 3 in Biddeford. The flag raising will start at noon at City Square, followed by a march to Williams Court for a picnic.
A free dance performance by Subcircle Artists in Residence Jenna Riegel and sha Harrell will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, June 4, at Collective Motion Arts Center, 18 Steeple Drive, Saco.
The Stand Together Market, with more than 20 vendors, food trucks and live music; will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, at Washington Street, Biddeford.
