Parade will march on in Saco and Biddeford on Veterans Day
BIDDEFORD/SACO — Heart of Biddeford and Veterans Day Planning Committee invite the community to honor Veterans on Friday, Nov. 11 during the 2022 Veterans Day Parade.
The parade will start in front of Saco City Hall at 10 a.m., and will proceed down Main Street to Biddeford, ending at Veterans Memorial Park. A closing ceremony will occur in Biddeford at approximately 10:40 a.m.
The parade took a two-year hiatus during the COVID shut-downs, opting instead for online versions. Now, in addition to Veterans organizations and community supporters, the parade will feature three local school marching bands. The Master of Ceremony will be Saco City Councilor and Marine Corps Veteran Nathan Johnston. Grand Marshall will be Pam Payeur of the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine.
This year's ceremony will recognize the 25th Anniversary of the Military Women's Memorial and our guest speaker will be Colonel Jen Fullmer. She is a command pilot with more than 2,500 flight hours in the B-1 Bomber, including 90 combat missions over Afghanistan and Iraq during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom from October 2001 to May 2014. She retired from the Airforce in 2015 and is the founding Executive Director of Boots2Roots, a nonprofit organization that helps retiring military members transition from active duty and build a life in Maine.
