SACO — Fans of Jersey Mike’s Subs will be able to buy one of their sandwiches in Saco this summer.

Jersey Mike’s spokesman Kyle Potvin said in an email that a new restaurant is expected to open at 507 Main St. (Route One) at the end of June or beginning of July.

The restaurant will fill one of three spaces in the newly constructed 5,400 square foot multi-unit commercial building at the site of a former Pizza Hut restaurant. Chipotle Mexican Grill opened last month in the building, and the other space is currently empty and has a “For Rent” sign.

The Jersey Mike’s will be 1,200 square feet, with a 12-seat dining area and additional outdoor seating, said Potvin.

Jersey Mike’s Subs is a fast-casual restaurant franchise serving sandwiches at nearly 2,500 locations nationwide. According to information from the company, the bread used for the sandwiches is baked fresh in the restaurants throughout the day. Sandwiches are made to order, just as they were at the first Jersey Mike’s restaurant more than 65 years ago in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, according to the company.

This will be the first Jersey Mike Sub’s restaurant in Saco. Jersey Mike’s has restaurants in Scarborough, Westbrook, Bangor, Auburn, Topsham, Brunswick and Windham.
