Prospective tenants are invited to tour The Eddy, a new, 250-unit development at 8 Eddy Ave., Biddeford, during an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The 250 apartments at the former 60 Barra Road location range from a 475-square-foot studio with a tree line view for $1,795 a month to a 681-square-foot, one bedroom unit with a patio and tree line view for $2,315.

The Eddy is still under construction and is being built in two stages, according to Olivia Miller, the onsite leasing agent.

“The majority of buildings and most of the apartments” are slated for completion June 1, she said.

Four floor plans will be offered – one for the one-bedroom apartments in addition to the three studio floor plans. The Eddy will feature open-concept layouts, stainless steel appliances, quartz and granite countertops and matte black fixtures.

Amenities at the pet-friendly community will be built during the second phase, Miller said. They include a fitness center with private workout rooms; a yoga studio; a game room; a media room and theater; a library; an indoor-outdoor sunroom; a kitchen and coffee bar; a state-of-the-art golf simulator and a pet wash.

The “star feature” is a courtyard with fire pit lounges, and there will also be a bocce court, dining and grilling patios, and table games, according to a Jan. 10 press release.

All are included with the monthly rent, Miller said, except the fees for dogs, which will be $250 upfront and $75 a month. Tenants will also pay for electrical service.

The property just past Holiday Inn Express is less than 10 minutes from downtown Biddeford and “nestled amongst the trees on a quiet, tucked-away street,” the press release stated.

Portland-based Port Property will serve as the onsite managers. The Eddy’s project team comprises Penobscot General Contractors, headquartered in Falmouth; Porta Capital Partners of Portland; and Portsmouth, N.H.-based architecture/interiors firm, Market Square Architects.

“The Eddy was designed to celebrate what makes this region special with its focus on indoor-outdoor living and its proximity to all downtown has to offer,” John Laliberte, CEO of Reveler Development, said in the release.

“It’s the biggest project in Biddeford of its kind and a good developer,” Biddeford Mayor Marty Grohman said. “It’s a significant size project and the location is a good one.

“There are good amenities, approachably priced; it is a good development for Biddeford. Connected to the Eastern Trail, it’s a really big draw.”

Grohman added, “I would call it workforce housing. As far as the people they'll rent to, it’s attainable.”

The rural residential setting is designed to accommodate indoor-outdoor living, in a scenic location, with a nearby connection to the Eastern Trail and proximity to the seacoast.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it being fully completed,” said Miller. “It’s a beautiful facility.”
