OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Lace up your running shoes. Regional School Unit 23 has announced that the Old Orchard Beach High School running track has reopened.

The Christopher Cash track at the Erwin S. Jalbert athletic complex next to Old Orchard Beach High School at E. Emerson Cummings Boulevard had closed in mid-June, to give time over the summer for renovations. The high school announced earlier this week that the running track was open again.

The newly refurbished running track is now much more colorful. Boasting local Seagull pride with school colors - the surface is bright blue with crisp white stripes and numbering designating lanes.

RSU 23 officials ask users to comply with the following rules to help preserve the track:

Walkers and joggers should utilize lanes three and four (the two outside lanes) to minimize wear.

• No pets allowed.

• No gum, food or glass bottles allowed on the track.

• No wheeled equipment of any type is allowed. This includes bicycles, strollers, rollerblades and skateboards.

• No spectators or chairs are allowed on the track.

• Only sneakers or track footwear should be worn while using the track. No shoes with cleats are allowed.
