Old Orchard Beach approved 2025 fiscal year municipal budget
The Old Orchard Beach Town Council approved the fiscal year 2025 municipal budget on Tuesday.
The council approved a $23.8 million municipal operating budget and a $3.2 million municipal capital improvement budget.
The budget includes nearly $7.6 million of revenue that will not be generated by property tax, said Town Manager Diana Asanza. This $7.6 million will be generated by state revenue sharing, permits and licenses, public safety fees, excise taxes and investment income.
Asanza and Town Council Chairman Shawn O’Neill thanked the town’s finance staff and department heads for their work on the town budget.
“There’s a lot that goes into this, a lot of work, a lot of effort,” said O’Neill.
Tuesday’s meeting was the final vote on the municipal budget. On Tuesday, June 11, residents will get the final vote on the school budget.
A $16.9 million school budget, which received preliminary approval from the school board and at a public town-hall style meeting, will get go out to the voters for final approval on June 11. Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Old Orchard Beach High School.
The total budget, including the municipal budget and the proposed school budget, is projected to reduce the mil rate by .02, from 11.40 to 11.38.
