National Night Out to bring family-friendly fun on Tuesday
Tuesday is National Night Out, and Old Orchard Beach, Saco and Biddeford are participating by hosting free community events.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships between communities and police departments and builds neighborhood connections, according to the National Night Out website. National Night Out events are held all over the country, and include festivals, barbecues and parades.
BIDDEFORD
The Biddeford Police Department is celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug, 1 with an event at Mechanics Park from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
This year’s activities in Biddeford include games and activities, including a touch-a-truck event with participation from the Police and Fire Departments. There will also be a free barbecue with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and water.
Biddeford drivers are advised that Water Street will be closed between Main Street and Sullivan Street from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday due to this event.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
The Old Orchard Beach Recreation Department is collaborating with the Police Department to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 4 Heath St. There will be fun games, free hotdogs, touch a truck, and live music. There will also be face painting from 4 – 5 p.m.
SACO
The National Night Out event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thornton Academy (438 Main St.) in Saco.
There will be free food, drinks, games, and a number of free activities such as bounce houses, an obstacle course, children's games, and a raffle. There will also be a "touch-a-truck" display and meet-and-greets with public safety and City employees. RSVP for the event at: https://fb.me/e/11zxnDdOY
