Monthly Community Meal this Thursday in Biddeford
This Thursday from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., stop by the J. Richard Martin Community Center for a free community meal and engaging conversation with your neighbors.
These monthly meals, organized by the city, have provided our residents with a chance to come together, build relationships, share experiences, and create a sense of belonging. They have helped foster community spirit and provided a platform for residents to share their experiences and ideas as well as discuss current events impacting their neighborhoods and our community.
At past community meals, I had the pleasure of connecting with a Biddeford High School student who shared their passion for their school and a desire to get more civically engaged in our city. I met two University of New England students who are excited to venture off-campus this year and explore more of what Biddeford has to offer. I dined with a newly retired couple who purchased their dream home in Biddeford last year and spend their free time volunteering at various organizations throughout York County. I have had enlightening conversations with several neighbors struggling with housing who desperately want to feel safe, secure, and welcome in Biddeford.
At last month’s meal, I heard from a group of residents who love to walk and bike around town but do not always feel safe on our roads or sidewalks.
In addition to a hot meal, every dinner brings a new and thought-provoking conversation with a neighbor. Please stop by this Thursday, grab a bite to eat, join the conversation, and take a moment to get to know your neighbors and for your neighbors to get to know you. There is a seat at the table for everyone.
This Thursday’s community meal is made possible by Youth Full Maine, Biddeford Adult Education, and Hannaford Supermarkets. It will be served by the joint Biddeford/Thornton Academy Wrestling team.
See you there!
