Maine CDC closes investigation of COVID-19 outbreak at Seal Rock

SACO — The Maine Center for Disease Control has closed an investigation of a COVID-19 outbreak at Seal Rock Healthcare assisted living.

At his Aug. 14 briefing, Maine CDC director Nirav Shah announced an outbreak of five cases of COVID-19 among staff at Seal Rock Healthcare assisted living facility.

Shah announced at his briefing today that the investigation of the outbreak was closed.

The CDC closes an investigation of an outbreak of COVID-19 at a location after two incubation periods, or 28 days of no new cases, according to Shah.

 

Seal Rock Healthcare is a 106 bed facility providing short-term transitional care and longer stays, according to the facility’s website. Services include hospice care, a unit for those with memory impairments, and rehabilitation care. The adjacent Inn at Atlantic Heights offers 64 assisted-living apartments for seniors.

There have been 4,918 total cases of COVID-19 cases in Maine, said Shah. OF these cases, 4,415 have been confirmed, 503 are probable. Of these cases, 4,280 are recovered. There have been 432 hospitalization in Maine due to COVID-19, and 137 reported deaths from COVID-19.
