Local Spotlight: Needham stout and Oktoberfest

The second annual Biddeford Oktoberfest is happening from noon – 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28. On Lincoln Street.

Heart of Biddeford has partnered with local businesses for a festival that will feature food, fun, and beer.

On tap will be seasonal offerings from local breweries. German food and other selections will be available for purchase from food trucks, with gluten-free options available for both food and drink.

The Oom Pa Pa’s from Boston will kick off the festival with traditional German music, followed by a set from Michael Corleto. Activities will include stein hoisting competitions and a dog costume contest.

Needham stout

Blaze Brewing Company has partnered with Maine Needhams to make a Needham Stout. Needhams are an iconic Maine candy made with a coconut and mashed potato base covered in chocolate. The new brew will be debuted on Monday Sept. 30, at a launch party from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at Blaze Brewing Company, 28 Pearl St., Biddeford.
