Lucinda is in many ways a typical cat. She likes relaxing in her cat hammock, getting brushed, and she especially enjoys hanging out on windowsills of her seaside home in Saco.

She’s also very photogenic. She’s a striking black and white long-haired cat with a fluffy black tail. If she sits the in a certain position, the black markings on her side form a heart. Cat lovers can take a look at the eye-catching photos of Lucinda on her Facebook page, “Lucinda in the Windah.”

Her owner, Marcy Pluznick-Marrin said when she met Lucinda at an animal shelter in California three years ago, she was very shy at first. After a while, Lucinda jumped in Pluznick-Marrin’s lap, and the deal was sealed.

“She hasn’t been much of a lap sitter since, so she knew what she had to do,” said Pluznick-Marrin.

Pluznick-Marrin belongs to a couple of regional photography groups on Facebook, and she posted a few photos of Lucinda sitting on a windowsill looking at a sunrise. One of the photos received more than 3,000 “likes” and “loves.”

“They were just wildly popular,” she said. “It’s just crazy, people like cats and sunrises.”

An administrator from a photography group messaged Pluznick-Marrin and told her the group didn’t allow photos of pets, and one of the members of the group suggested she start a page dedicated to Lucinda.

Pluznick-Marrin created the Lucinda in the Windah page, naming it with the help of a suggestion of a member of the photography group who enjoyed her photos.

The page has more than 500 followers, and there’s a core group of people who regularly comment on the photos of Lucinda.

“She definitely has fans,” said Pluznick-Marrin.

The administrators of the photography group have since lifted the ban on pet photos, and Pluznick-Marin resumed posting photos of Lucinda on the photography group, where the cat also has admirers.

In her home in Saco, Lucinda enjoys watching not only the sunrise, but eagles and crows, people walking dogs on the beach, fishermen out in the ocean, and kayakers and paddleboarders. Pluznick-Marrin has even seen her a duck a few times when a seagull has flown by.

“She loves to sit in all the windows. There’s plenty to entertain her here,” said Pluznick-Marrin.

In the winter, Pluznick-Marrin live in California. Her home in California sits next to a field and Lucinda likes to watch the yard birds.

Lucinda is the only pet in her household, and she is loyal to her owner.

“She kind of follows me around like a dog, and she’ll sit in the window of whatever room I’m in,” said Pluznick-Marrin.
