Local police release more information on Saco abduction
More details have been released regarding the abduction of a woman and her daughter from Saco.
The Saco Police Department received a call on Thursday, Dec. 28 that two people had gone missing from Elm Street, said Police Chief Jack Clements in a press release.
The two missing people were identified as Norma Mercy Jimbikt Rodondi, 35, and her three-year-old daughter Angie Rodondi, according Clements. Previous information from the state police identified the mother as Norma Rodondi Jimbikt.
Surveillance cameras showed that the mother and daughter appeared to have been pushed into a white Ford Explorer bearing New York license plates that immediately left the area, said Clements.
“Based on information from the reporting party, as well as video surveillance, it was believed that the individuals had been abducted,” said Clements.
An Amber Alert was issued Thursday night just before 10 p.m. on Thursday and was canceled just after 12:30 a.m. on Friday.
At 3:41 p.m. on Thursday the car passed a toll booth into New York State, said Shannon Moss, public information officer with the Maine Department of Public Safety in a press release.
The car was found in Peekskill, New York, said Clements. The Federal Bureau of Investigation found both Rodondi and her daughter and confirmed they were not harmed, said Clements.
In addition to the Maine State Police and the FBI, the Saco Police Department worked with the Biddeford Police Department, the Framingham, Massachusetts Police Department and the New York State Police.
The investigation is active and ongoing, said Clements.
