Vickie’s Veggie Table in Biddeford will be serving up vegan food for the last time this weekend.

Victoria Charity-McGuirk and her daughter, Melanie McGuirk, opened the plant-based restaurant at 299 Main St., Suite 101 in the summer of 2022. The menu includes cold-pressed juice, açaí bowls, plant-based sandwiches, and salads.

The mother-daughter team announced on social media that this weekend would be the restaurant’s last. The restaurant will be open Friday, Sunday, and the last day of business will be Monday. They will be Saturday so they can participate at Veg Fest in Portland.

“Vickie’s Veggie Table has been such an incredible experience for both of us and we are so happy that we were able to bring downtown Biddeford some healthy vegan options. We hope that we’ve helped inspire Biddeford to open up more vegetarian, vegan, and healthier spots so that our community can grow in a positive way. We also hope we’ve inspired you to cook some yummy vegan food at home,” said Charity-McGuirk and her daughter on the social media post.

The two said they will be writing a cookbook with stories about their time in Biddeford, and are asking customers with stories about the restaurant or vegan recipes to share to email them to  vickiesveggietable@gmail.com.

One commentor on Instagram asked why the restaurant was closing, and the two responded that “running a restaurant is just proving to be not what we want. It’s too much time and energy for too little return.”

The two had also been moving toward expanding a venture selling veggie burgers to local markets. They said on social media that effort had been put on pause as summer had been too busy of a time to launch it.
