Local Flavor: Sea-Veggie Burgers, pizza and breakfast
Atlantic Sea Farms of Biddeford has launched its latest retail product: Sea-Veggie Burgers.
“Our kelp and green chickpeas are regeneratively grown, putting a totally new plant-based, climate action spin on the term, “surf and turf”, said Atlantic Sea Farms Chief Marketing Officer, Jesse Baines in a written statement. “Furthermore, this is the first product of its kind that is designed to taste like a kelp-based veggie burger rather than a plant-based meat.”
The Sea-Veggie burgers come in two varieties: Basil Pesto and Ginger Sesame. The company said in a press release that the burgers are not only good on a bun, but also good as an ingredient in meals such as tacos, breakfast hash and stir fries.
The burgers boast a high nutritional value according to Atlantic Farms, as green chickpeas are high in fiber, B vitamins and iron and kelp is naturally high in antioxidants, potassium, iron and folic acid. Other ingredients such as pea protein, oat fiber, chickpea flour and nutritional yeast add to the nutritional value.
The Pizza Garage
The Pizza Garage, a popular restaurant in Hollis that closed last year, has announced that it will be reopening in Biddeford at the former Three Sisters Family Restaurant location at 641 Elm St. (Route One).
The plan, according to an announcement on Facebook, is to bring the Three Sisters restaurant back at the location for breakfast and have the Pizza Garage serve lunch and dinner. An opening date has not yet been announced.
