Our small corner of the world has received a lot of accolades recently for its restaurants, and it continues to get attention as new restaurants join our food scene.

I spend a lot of time in this column talking about new eateries, but today, let’s focus on one of our veteran restaurants.

The Deli and Company is celebrating 20 years in business on Sunday with an anniversary party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free food and giveaways, and the deli will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Saco Food Pantry.

The Deli and Company is located at 110 Main St., in the Saco Island mill complex. The restaurant started out as the Saco Island Deli and over the years was rebranded.

For lunch, they serve numerous sandwich options – both hot and cold. Breakfast sandwiches can be ordered on fresh croissants or house-made English muffins. For those one a gluten-free diet, Deli and Company offers house-made piadina (Italian flat bread) made with almond flour.

Today is National Coffee Day and Sunday is International Coffee Day. While the history of National Coffee Day is a bit murky, International Coffee Day was first organized in 2014 by the International Coffee Organization “to create a single day of celebration for coffee lovers around the world,” according to the ICO website.

Cheers to all the local baristas and coffee shop owners that keep us all caffeinated.
