OLD ORCHARD BEACH — It might not be summer yet, but it’s sunny out with clear blue skies –a nice start to school spring vacation.

The perfect way to celebrate? A trip to downtown Old Orchard Beach. Rocco’s Pizza, known for its New York style pizza, is opening at 11 a.m. today. Located at 4 West Grand Ave., it’s one of the “Big 3” slice shops in downtown Old Orchard Beach.

Rocco’s recently expanded its downtown footprint, taking over the former Dunkin’s space next door. Management assured me in a message on Facebook messenger that the menu and the products haven’t changed, though declined to comment further.

Across the street from Rocco’s, Pier Fries and Bill’s Pizza are set to open on April 28.

A trusted friend tells me that there’s another slice shop in Old Orchard Beach that should be on our radar. Rossetti’s Pizza at 15 East Grand Ave. has opened for the season. I haven’t been yet, but I’m going to have to check it out. Should we be thinking of pizza in downtown Old Orchard Beach in terms of the Big 4 and not the Big 3?

BIDDEFORD

It looks like downtown Biddeford will soon have another pizza option. Peng’s Pizza Pies has announced it’s opening this summer at 128 Main St. in Biddeford.
