Local Flavor: New pizza joint in Biddeford
Back in April, I reported that a new restaurant called Peng’s Pizza Place was going to open in downtown Biddeford later this year.
Well, that day has arrived. Peng’s Pizza Place opened on Wednesday at 128 Main St., Biddeford, selling out in 90 minutes. Peng’s is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
Owner Chris Daniels named the restaurant after his father Bill, who died in 2020, according to the website. Bill was “lovingly nicknamed” Peng, due to his height of 5 feet four inches and his distinctive walk that resembled a penguin’s waddle.
Peng’s serves pizza in one size – 16 inches- on naturally leavened dough. They serve the standard cheese and pepperoni pizzas as well as specialty pizzas like pepperoni with spicy honey and pickled jalapenos or a white pizza featuring red onions and poached lemons. Pizzas can also be made with vegan cheese, for an additional charge.
The menu also includes Caesar salad as well as a vegan version of the salad, and Basque cheesecake.
